Welcome to our web site. TORCHS is the largest R/C helicopter only club in Florida. We have pilots of all skill levels, from beginners to world class pilots. Come visit us at our Winter Garden field and we promise you will want to join our club!
I just returned a few hours ago from Las Vegas where I spent a full week attending the “Align Competition & Fun Fly” along with Mike Fortin and Craig Martin.
Craig and Mike competed in the Advanced class and they finished 5th and 6th respectively. I competed in the Masters class and finished 7th. Mike flew well, he completed all his flights and had a pretty consistent performance. Craig had some of the best scores in the known maneuvers, but had a bad crash on his second freestyle flight, which resulted in a zero score. Nonetheless he recovered and finished 5th. As for myself, I was off all week, my known flights to the required maneuvers were horrible and to top it off, I hit the tail on the ground during my first freestyle flight while doing piro-flips on the deck, which resulted also in a zero score. I managed to bump myself up from second to last to 7th place thanks to my last freestyle flight.
All in all, we had a lot of fun in Vegas, this event is well worth it, lots of international pilots, great friends and of course the best entertainment any city can offer!
My friend Derrick Threatt from rcheliresource.com compiled the following ”teaser” video of the event that is second to none. Derrick’s video work is superb!
On a different topic, the new T-Rex 450 Pro is now about to be released, this new Align heli is incredibly better than its predecesor. Derrick also shot some video of me flying my pre-production version of the heli in Vegas:
Our meeting for March has been changed to March 24th. The meeting will take place at the Fashion Square Mall as always. Please make an effort to be there, I plan on going over all the changes that I would like to see take place during 2009.
Dear TORCHS members, I have been the president for the past two years and now about to turn this over to my good friend Bert Kammerer on March 1st.
Our club showed a distinct progress during the past several years and I have no doubt that this move will continue on. It has been a pleasure to serve this club as a president, and I thank you all for making it happen.
Thanks to all the members that showed up to our meeting. The meeting was successful and the following new club officers were elected:
President: Bert Kammerer Vice-President: Barry Strickland Secretary/Treasurer: Carey Shurley
Safety/Field Officers: Alex Oksit, Marvin Dericho and Pete Campbell
Our next club meeting will be on Tuesday, March 17th.
