Thanks to our friend Derrick Threatt from http://www.rcheliresource.com/ for putting this nice trailer of our fun fly together!
The Orlando Helicopter Blowout 2009 was a success! We had close to 220 registered pilots and about 500 spectators. The winner of the grand prize donated by Heli Wholesaler was John Green from Orlando, Florida. We also had many pro pilots from all over the world and great sponsors. Media coverage was abundant with Mark Ryder from http://www.runryder.com/, Derrick Threatt from http://www.rcheliresource.com/ and Chuck Bassani from RC Heli Magazine. The 3D contest went very well, for result scores, please click here. Thanks to everyone who made this event possible, including Carey Shurley, David Jeffery, Mike Fortin, Jose Soto and all the TORCHS and RCACF volunteers. We look forward to doing this again in 2010! For media coverage: Bert Kammerer HeliWholesaler http://www.heliwholesaler.com/ is donating a ready to fly T-Rex 700LE to our event. We are having an informal Pre-Memorial Day get together and BBQ! Our Winter Garden field will be open to any and all pilots who wish to come, a small $10 dollar donation will be required to fly. All pilots wishing to attend need to arrive no later than 12pm. Spectators are welcome all day and all hours. We are even going to have a pilots raffle! Trex 250 courtesy of ReadyHeli Come Join: As we show you how we do things in Orlando! I just returned a few hours ago from Las Vegas where I spent a full week attending the “Align Competition & Fun Fly” along with Mike Fortin and Craig Martin. Craig and Mike competed in the Advanced class and they finished 5th and 6th respectively. I competed in the Masters class and finished 7th. Mike flew well, he completed all his flights and had a pretty consistent performance. Craig had some of the best scores in the known maneuvers, but had a bad crash on his second freestyle flight, which resulted in a zero score. Nonetheless he recovered and finished 5th. As for myself, I was off all week, my known flights to the required maneuvers were horrible and to top it off, I hit the tail on the ground during my first freestyle flight while doing piro-flips on the deck, which resulted also in a zero score. I managed to bump myself up from second to last to 7th place thanks to my last freestyle flight. All in all, we had a lot of fun in Vegas, this event is well worth it, lots of international pilots, great friends and of course the best entertainment any city can offer! My friend Derrick Threatt from rcheliresource.com compiled the following ”teaser” video of the event that is second to none. Derrick’s video work is superb!
More coverage of the event is available at http://www.rcheliresource.com/ as well as at http://www.runryder.com/ On a different topic, the new T-Rex 450 Pro is now about to be released, this new Align heli is incredibly better than its predecesor. Derrick also shot some video of me flying my pre-production version of the heli in Vegas:
Our meeting for March has been changed to March 24th. The meeting will take place at the Fashion Square Mall as always. Please make an effort to be there, I plan on going over all the changes that I would like to see take place during 2009. Thanks! Bert Kammerer |
